Baby Blue Whale

Departing Punta Vicente Roca, our ship headed east out into the blue to round the coast of Isabel and head toward Santa Cruz when all of a sudden I heard shouts of excitement from the upper deck. I grabbed my nearest camera (my phone) and ran up to the bow of the boat and toward a small clump of crew and guests. To my incredible surprise there were massive whales spouting and surfacing not too far from our boat.  They circled our boat, giving us a wide berth but seemed to slowly get more curious or comfortable, coming closer until one passed right under us and surfaced just off the bow. I heard the crew exclaiming “ballena azul” and to my utter disbelief resized it was a baby blue whale! I never thought in my lifetime I’d see a blue whale! And here was a little baby less than 10 metres from us!
