Last dives! West Caicos - Dives 10 & 11

In my last post, you saw the tragic news that my new little underwater camera kicked it. For our last days of diving it was back to West Caicos. The first site was Gully - so named because a big sand flow cuts through the reef. We started by cruising over the sand flow and into a big swim through with a fairly strong current. You emerge from the swim through at about 25 metres (85 feet) down on the wall.

I don't have much in the way of photos, but I got to poke around with my dive light more. We saw a GIANT Caribbean crab on the wall. His forearm was seriously at least the same size as mine! And dad spotted a huge redbanded lobster while I was wondering if I could win an arm wrestle against the crab (theorized answer: hells no!).

These photos are courtesy my dad.

When we popped up over the wall edge and back on to the reef, we spotted a yellow ray that cruised away - then abruptly darted away flapping like a chicken. I snotted up my mask laughing.

A Queen triggerfish that wouldn't really sit pretty for her photo.

I floundered to find this guy.
Soon after, we found a Southern Stingray stalking along in the sand. He was pretty infatuated with me and I'm convinced wanted to make out.

Me and Stingray - heading for kissy town.

That's it for our dive days here in Provo! We have one day to decompress fully before flying home. After this much diving over so many days, we all have about 24 or more hours before it's safe to fly. Oh my, what will we do with all that time stuck in paradise?
