Belize Arrival and Embarking the Boat

We arrived in Belize City just in time to be quickly whisked away on a bus toward the harbour. After a fast beer at a hotel, we were then shuttles onto our yacht for the week - Belize Aggressor III.

Sun deck and (out of order) hot tub.

On board, we immediately unloaded and set up our dive gear and were shown to our cabins. Keeping in mind it’s a small yacht meant for diving, the cabins are fittingly compact. There’s a double bunk, a vanity with sink, a marine toilet and shower. And an explosion of bag contents.

It’s a bit of a squeeze on the top bunk. I’ve found I have to kind of dive or roll into it considering there’s about 45 cm clearance. And a few good headsmacks have taught me to keep a low, prone profile.

We had a boat briefing before the first of many three-course gourmet meals. The 18 divers and seven crew spent the evening relaxing and getting to know one another. Or people watching a boat of teen fishermen get in trouble with dock security.

We’ll be pulling out of the harbour and heading out to Turneffe Reef while we are sleeping, so we get to awaken to sun, water and reef paradise tomorrow!
