Konichiwa

After a genuinely comfortable 10-hour flight directly across the pacific, we arrived in Tokyo.

Our plane departed at 2 pm on Friday, July 19 and landed at Saturday, July 20 at 4 pm. We met our group and headed out for dinner at what was 4:30 am Calgary time.

Our first restaurant was an izakaya, meaning they serve a variety dishes including soba, kabobs, sushi, tempanyaki, etc. As jet lag was setting in and I had already eaten dinner on the plane, I had a delicious red bean and mochi dessert and a couple glasses of sake.

I thought that would have put me right to sleep, but jet lag had other plans. As did Jeffrey's night terrors. Now, you can't really be blamed for what you do in your sleep, so I forgave his three, equally spaced outbursts about ants and tried to get on Tokyo time.

We're off for a walking tour of a couple Tokyo districts today.
