Miami - South Beach

Back to Miami for the second conference within two weeks. This time I'm stationed in South Beach right along the boardwalk.

This time I was able to hang with the locals for a bit.

I only had a few hours free to explore, so late on my last day in town I jumped in a cab and started at South Pointe Park.

There's a long pier with a good view of all South Beach.

I walked along the beach in search of celebrities and beautiful, fancy people. As it was winter, all I saw were a a few dedicate runners and a brave group of beach yoga goers.

I did find some information on the importance of the dunes ecosystem and the wildlife therein. There is a strip of dune grasses and endemic plants between the beach and Boardwalk that provides protection against erosion and supplies important habitat for many species.

Next up was Ocean Drive with the Art Deco buildings. Most of the buildings were built between 1923 and 1943. It's pretty pastel in the day and bright neon at night.

With my time in Miami wrapping up, last stop was Lincoln Road Mall, an outdoor pedestrian mall.

I made on very important stop to stalk up before the upcoming long plane ride.
