Arrival in Ao Nang, Krabi

A quick plane ride later and we were in Krabi. Upon claiming our luggage, we were hustled onto a shuttle bus allegedly headed for Ao Nang and willing to drop us off in front of our resort. What we didn't know is that Ao Nang was the last stop on the local route. After fuelling up, the driver buying lunch, and a slow scenic tour of surrounding towns, we arrived at our resort. Just 1.5 hours later than we planned.

After checking in at the hotel and checking in at the dive shop, we zipped down main street to the beach just in time for sunset.

For some stupid reason, we both saw a small, shady and empty sushi restaurant/cooking school/laundry on the street by the resort and thought sushi was a great idea for dinner. There were many, many warning signs. The place was Thai, Indian, western and sushi. We had never seen a patron eating there. Well, there's the whole laundry thing too. We had to point at pictures on the wall of the sushi because the waiter/husband didn't know what we were trying to order. Ang was told she couldn't have mackerel because "not too fresh" hand wavy sign queasy face miming. But we were kind of trapped at this point. It was the not expensive sad plate of pale sushi on soggy rice I have ever encountered. I think the sushi at 7-11 in North America honestly looked better.

The good news is only a few pieces were too sketchy to eat and as far as we know, neither of us have worms, salmonella, or food poisoning. And we learned a needless and unnecessary lesson about walking away from bad food even if you have a "wicked craving".

Well, off on the scuba boat tomorrow to meet my food before it became sushi.
