Off to India!
"From the monuments of Delhi to the colourful cities of Rajasthan, experience three weeks of Northern India's best. Marvel at Jaisalmer's mud fortress and Bikaner's unique temple before journeying into the desert for an overnight camel safari. Follow in the footsteps of pilgrims and make your way to the Ganges River at Varanasi. India is home to great food, fascinating culture, alluring sights and friendly and inviting people. Discover the charms and mystery that makes up this incredible country."
That will be me in just two short days! I'm strapping on the old backpack and heading out on an adventure abroad to soak up the sun, experience world culture and probably gain about 10 pounds. This time I'm off to India fora 20 day tour with G Adventures with my intrepid friend Jill. She has a might bit more time to expierience India than I do as she's staying for three weeks after I have to return to the Great White North.
Highlights of our tour include: Orientation walks in Old Delhi, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Pushkar and Jaipur, overnight camel safari Bikaner, Sunrise at Savitri temple in Pushkar, River Ganges boat trip at sunrise and sunset (including candle flower ceremony), and of course, a visit to the Taj Mahal and Red Fort.
While I have little idea what to expect in the way of internet access and free time, I hope to keep you all posted and suitably jealous through this blog. I would love to hear from you all along the way so please feel free to leave comments and messages! Share your thoughts, what's happening back home, or how much you miss me. Mostly the last one. Right?
P.S. The only obstacle between me and adventure right now is the dread of packing.
